Accessibility Statement
This site should work for everyone. Here's what we've done, what's still imperfect, and how to tell us if something doesn't work for you.
1. Our Commitment
Rieger Electric wants everyone in East Texas to be able to use this Site and reach us, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Accessibility is ongoing work, not a box we check once.
2. What We've Built In
- Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. A visible focus outline shows where you are.
- Skip link. A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing keyboard and screen reader users hit on every page.
- Semantic structure. Real headings in order, landmark regions, lists marked up as lists, and labelled navigation so screen readers can jump around efficiently.
- Labelled forms. Every form field has a visible, programmatically associated label. Required fields are marked. Errors are announced to assistive technology and move focus to the field that needs attention.
- Alternative text. Photographs carry descriptive alt text. Decorative icons are hidden from screen readers so they don't create noise.
- Colour contrast. Text and interface colours are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Responsive and zoomable. Pages reflow down to small screens and remain usable at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and smooth scrolling are switched off.
- Accessible mobile menu. The menu drawer traps focus while open, closes on Escape, and returns focus where you left it.
- Text, not pictures of text. Phone numbers and content are real selectable text, so they can be enlarged, read aloud, or copied.
3. Known Limitations
We want to be straight with you about the gaps:
- The Google Map on our About and Contact pages is third-party content. We deliberately don't load it until you click, but once loaded its accessibility is Google's, not ours. Everything the map conveys — our service area and the towns we cover — is also written out in plain text right beside it, so no information is only available in the map.
- Photo descriptions. Our alt text describes what's in each photo, but some technical detail visible in a job photo may not be fully captured in words. Call us and we'll describe any project in as much detail as you want.
4. If the Site Doesn't Work for You
You never have to use this website to do business with us. Every single thing on it can be handled by phone.
Call or text (903) 736-6952, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. We'll answer questions, describe services, take your information, and schedule work over the phone. There is no penalty, no extra charge, and no difference in service.
Email works too: Trarieger@gmail.com.
5. Tell Us About a Problem
If you run into a barrier on this Site, we want to hear about it — that's the only way it gets fixed.
Contact us at (903) 736-6952 or Trarieger@gmail.com. It helps if you can tell us:
- Which page you were on
- What you were trying to do
- What went wrong
- What device, browser, or assistive technology you were using
We aim to respond within three business days and to fix confirmed issues as quickly as we reasonably can. If something can't be fixed straight away, we'll offer another way to get you what you need.
6. Standards & Approach
This Site was built as static HTML with semantic markup, tested with keyboard-only navigation, and designed against WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria. It runs no third-party tracking or advertising scripts, which also means fewer things interfering with assistive technology.
We review accessibility when we make significant changes to the Site. This statement was last reviewed on August 15, 2026.
